Girls or Show piece: An interview with victim of society“What is the status of women in our society?” this question has been repeated almost in every seminar of woman rights, by every speaker. But unfortunately, victims of this man dominating society are not only illiterate women but also highly educated women. “Ghazala”, is 35 year old unmarried woman and one of those girls, who are still waiting for proposals, her dreams are now about to be crushed by this cruel society. “I was just like ordinary girls, having dreams for their home and family, but now I feel that, I did not have right to see those dreams.” She had tears in her eyes while describing her experience. “ I don’t know what has happened to our society, why people always want girls with pretty face, perfect figure and height. They always said “gori honi chahiyay”; I want to ask them have girls made their selves with their hands. Allah has created us, to give bad remarks to creation, is in real to give remarks to creator: because any creation cannot exist by it self. Its just like when you appreciate any painting, in real you appreciate painter.” She said that, this is pathetic when people come at your home, whom you don’t know, and you have to go in front of them, just to let them to count your weaknesses and to be criticized by them. According to her it is simply a torture and no other name she can give to this. “ I feel really awkward, when my relatives ask me about when I am going to marry as if every thing is in my hand.” She further said “Life has become very difficult after the marriage of my younger sister. I am not saying that I am jealous of her but no one can understands my feelings.” She discussed over the increasing ratio of love marriages, that this is the reaction of this attitude of society. If mothers of boys will delay their marriage in search of “Miss Universe”, definitely they find someone by their own and there are chances that might be the girls would not reach their standards.“If Allah has given birth to every one in pairs, so where is my match.” She complained to Allah. It is easy to spend your lives in your parent’s house when your parents are alive, but after them your home would become hell for you.She admitted that she is not alone who is suffering from this brutal trend in society, this is the issue of every second home of our country, but the need is that some one has to take step, towards change, and only young and educated boys can do this. In the end of conversation, she gave message to girls that give first preference to your studies, try to get higher studies as much they can. Only your education can help you to survive in this world. Remember be bold, be brave and be confident.By Syeda Alvina Nazir
